In the 1930s/40s there was a ' freakshow ' called Marian the headless woman was she real and how ?

How is it possible for a woman to live with no head? I'm not sure if her name is Marian or Miriam or something like that but i'd be grateful on any information anyone could give me on her or anyother 'headless' side show performer or 'freak'. Thank you !! :)
