How does a name affect nationalism and the progress of the Philippines?

Let us just remember that we were colonized by the Spanish for more than 300 years then was sold the the Americans at 1898 for 200 million dollars.we were under the american rule until 1946... having said so, it supports that our names are really either spanish or american inspired, but it has nothing to do about a person's nationalism, it's just culture (like Catholicism)... It's just about the manner you of introducing yourself especially to foreigners,and on a foreign land...
