What actions can i take in my life now to emulate those of the great bible heroes?

You need to become the person God wants you to be, not a copy of someone who has gone before you. Stay in the Bible looking for yourself, not "heroes". Stay regular in your church attendance, and listen to what others say about you. They are often better at picking out your strengths than you are.
